Together, we achieved an incredible result:

In just two days, we removed nearly 7 tons of waste from Lake Tisza — to be precise, 6,854 kg.

This figure alone clearly demonstrates the scale of the problem, but it also proves that collective action can create real change.

Why Does So Much Waste Accumulate Here?

Lake Tisza is particularly affected by waste pollution. One of the main reasons is the vast catchment area of the River Tisza, which extends across several countries. As a result, the river carries enormous amounts of waste downstream.

Due to natural water flow patterns and the lake’s unique geographical characteristics, much of this waste accumulates here, effectively turning Lake Tisza into a collection point.

What Do We Find During Clean-Up Campaigns?

During the clean-up operations, the most common items collected are plastic bottles, packaging materials, and other plastic waste. However, many surprising objects are also discovered along the way.

Manupackaging: Taking Responsibility Throughout the Entire Lifecycle

This year, the Manupackaging team once again took part in the Lake Tisza clean-up initiative because, for us, sustainability does not begin and end with manufacturing.

On the one hand, we continuously work to reduce packaging material consumption and increase recycled content in our products. Examples include our RPET-based adhesive tapes, which are made from more than 85% recycled plastic.

On the other hand, we believe it is equally important to actively address waste that has already entered the environment. That is why we joined the initiative again this year, with our colleagues personally contributing to the clean-up of Lake Tisza.
