Long-term customer, new optimization, another 23% film saving

Goal: Packaging optimization

The Manupackaging team has once again proven that sustainability and cost efficiency can go hand in hand. This time, we carried out a packaging optimization test for a frozen food manufacturer, aiming to further reduce packaging costs and environmental impact.

Previous cooperation – the first optimization step

Our partner, a long-standing customer, already worked with us in 2022 on a packaging optimization project. At that time, the film thickness was reduced from 17 my to 15 my while maintaining pallet stability.
Back then, the 12 my film was not yet suitable for the packaging conditions, but technology has evolved significantly since then — thanks to Manupackaging’s continuous innovation.

New test and technological progress

In this year’s project, we carried out an M StableSite test at the customer’s site. The results clearly showed that using the new generation Manustar® 12 my film allows for further material reduction.
The 12 my film, which was not suitable back in 2022, is now significantly stronger and more advanced, ensuring stable and secure pallet wrapping with considerably less material and lower costs.

Test results

After the test, we were able to wrap the same pallet using 93 grams of film instead of 122 grams, representing a 23% reduction in film usage by weight.

Impact of the optimization:

  • 23% reduction in environmental impact
  • 8% lower pallet packaging cost
  • Pallet stability fully maintained, even with thinner film

Continuous cooperation and long-term results

We maintain close contact with our customers and immediately test new materials or developments when opportunities arise.
Thanks to this proactive approach, another optimization was achieved: our existing partner remains satisfied, as with around 200,000 pallets packaged annually, the 8% cost reduction and even greater material saving make a real difference.

By switching from 15 my to 12 my film, the company now saves an additional 5.8 tons of packaging material per year— a major step forward in both sustainability and cost efficiency.

Conclusion

This project is an excellent example of how continuous development and technological innovation can deliver measurable results.
With Manupackaging’s professional support, our client not only reduced costs but also significantly lowered their ecological footprint — all while maintaining the same high packaging safety standards.
