Many companies today focus not only on efficiency but also on sustainability in their packaging processes. Our recent case study clearly demonstrates that with the right technological investment and expert support, film consumption can be reduced by up to 50%, while packaging costs drop significantly.
Our partner – a supplier of pre-packaged fresh salads – previously used manual packaging with 15-micron stretch film. This method was time-consuming, required extensive manual labour, and needed 191 grams of film per pallet.
The challenge: faster, more economical and more sustainable packaging
The company wanted to speed up its packaging process, reduce costs and minimise environmental impact — all while maintaining the highest level of packaging safety, especially for food products.

The solution: M StableSite Audit + semi-automatic wrapping machine + optimised film usage
Our Manupackaging experts recommended the SYNTHEX semi-automatic turntable stretch wrapper, capable of up to 200% pre-stretch. Paired with our own 15-micron film, the machine applies the optimal amount of film every time.
The results:
- Film usage dropped from 191 g to 96 g per pallet
- Nearly 50% material reduction
- Annual film usage decreased from 13 tons to 6.5 tons
- Packaging costs reduced by 27%
The role of the M StableSite Audit in sustainable optimisation
During the project, our partner was among the first to use our new service, the M StableSite Audit. This comprehensive on-site analysis enables us to:
- measure actual film usage in real operational conditions,
- identify unnecessary material consumption,
- provide optimisation recommendations for machinery, film and techniques,
- deliver precise, measurable savings data,
- prepare the company for long-term sustainable operation.
The results proved that the right film–machine combination and fine-tuned settings provide immediate, significant and tangible savings.
Sustainability and business advantage go hand in hand
Ensuring adequate product protection with minimal packaging material is one of Manupackaging’s core missions. As Gábor Arató, Managing Director of Manupackaging Hungary, highlights:
“We believe packaging should protect products with as little material as possible while reducing environmental impact. In 2020 alone, we helped our partners reduce film usage by more than 2,000 tons – meaning significantly less unnecessary waste entered the environment.”
With the M StableSite Audit, we support this mission even more effectively by giving every partner a clear, data-driven understanding of how to operate more sustainably and efficiently.
