The starting point
One of our contract packaging partners faced major challenges with costs and packaging security.
Previously, they used 23-micron standard film applied with an old wrapping machine. This machine could neither stretch nor pre-stretch the film, resulting in:
- High film usage
- Insufficient load stability and protection
Average consumption: 580 g of film per pallet.

The goal
The company clearly set out its expectations:
✅ Reduce packaging material costs
✅ Achieve safer load securing during transport
The solution
During the test, two new Synthex wrapping machines were installed, equipped with automatic stretching and pre-stretching functions.
This was combined with Melite 17 power film, specifically developed for economical and strong packaging.
The results in numbers
The impact of the new solution was impressive:
- Film consumption: 580 g → 306 g / pallet
- Savings: 48% less packaging material
- Holding force: approx. +100% – the load became twice as stable
In other words: half the film, double the security.
What does this mean in practice?
- Cost: significant material savings on every wrapped pallet.
- Safety: shipments arrive more stable and damage-free.
- Sustainability: film consumption nearly halved, meaning less plastic waste for the environment.
Conclusion
This case study shows clearly: by combining modern machines with advanced films, companies can achieve not only substantial cost savings but also safer logistics.
Our partner’s example proves that a smart investment can pay off multiple times in a short period.
